More softsynth stuff.
Saw our video up on makeTV. Sweet!
If you’d like to make one of these yourself, it’s really preatty simple. We’re still working out the specifics with the paypal thing, but if you’d like to order a kit for the low low price of 20.USD (batteries included!), it should be possible within the next day or so. Kits include everything you need to make something like what’s in the video. That’s a purse, conductive fabric tongue, parts for a simple 2 oscillator setup, and a delighfully crafty / informative instruction thing. You bring the soldering iron, solder, indomitable spirit. Or you could buy a finished thing for marginally more.
Great fer your sweety this Vday!
In the works.

soft synths
Here’s a project that’s coming along pretty nicely – It’s a dead simple 2 oscillator setup inside of a coin purse. The power is connected / bypassed with the snap above the battery, and it’s played by mashing the conductive fabric strips. The tongue is all fabric and thread, so it’s really malleable, and no wires will snap from repeated folding. We’re working on some more of these, and putting together some kits that will include a conductive fabric tongue, all the parts you need for at least a two osc setup, and fanciful instructions that explain everything in illustrated glory. We will continue to do this at least until all these parts I have sitting around are used up.
Everything was made by us, from other things, and the amps not grounded, so there’s some hum. Whoa.

Field recordings for you. Or whoever.
I’ve been testing out the Sony PCM D50 lately, and it actually sounds pretty great. The fact that the mics can rotate is a bit of a gimmick if you ask me, as it only seems to mess up the stereo image and introduce phase problems into my recordings. Also, a wind screen is absolutely necessary; luckily, my scrap of nylon legging seems to be working about as well as I could hope. These minor gripes aside, the thing kills, and I’m really excited to get the hang of working with it.
Recordings will be finding their way to my Freesound account, here. Enjoy?
Nothing’s going on over here.
Just kidding! Haha!
Looking to fill your hot little earholes with some Foque Mopus, pre West Coast tour 2k9? Well you’re in luck, as I have it on good authority that the entire catalog is now accessable via blahgosfear. Also, look forward to some Softsynth developments, EA recordings, pictures of kimchee, and field recordings in the next few days. For now, here’s some dolphins.
